Spartanburg's Achieving & Innovative Youth Leaders Summer Program

Calling all Youth Leaders!

The Spartanburg’s Achieving and Innovative Youth Leaders (SAIYL) program is for students ages 14 -17 that live within the city limits of Spartanburg or attend a school within the city limits of Spartanburg  and are interested in local government, recreation, learning essential leadership skills and becoming engaged in their community.

The SAIYL Program will begin on June 12, 2017 and run through July 28, 2017 (but will not meet July 3, 2017-July 7, 2017).  Students will meet daily Monday – Thursday 10:00am-4:00pm and Friday from 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Young leaders will participate in activities that will combine work and learning activities to include tours, research, speakers, and service projects.  They will explore topics of importance related to leadership in government, recreation and community such as arts and culture, economics, healthcare, law enforcement, volunteerism, and planning.

Students who successfully complete the program will receive a stipend of $500 at the end of the program.

Any interested young person should fill out the application and mail or hand deliver to the City of Spartanburg (addresses can be found in the application).
